Hi Everyone,
We have a bird box with a camera inside which for the last couple of weeks has been used by a bluetit to roost in each night. Just over a week ago she started to build her nest and it was coming along really nicely and was visiting with her partner throughout the day. It looks almost complete :-) However for the last 2 nights she hasn't been in the nest box at night to roost and she hasn't been back to the nest during the day either.
Does this mean that she has now decided not to nest in the box?
Really disappointed as this is the first year we have a camera in the nest box :-(
Any body else had this problem?
Lisa
Hi Lisa
It could be that they have had a change in circumstances and had to cease nesting. A change in the weather for example can hold things up. especiaslly cold or wet conditions or disturbance of some kind. However it is still very early in the nesting season so keep your hopes up that they will return in the near future!
Best wishes
