nestboxes

As Saturday was such a wonderful day, my husband decided it was time to have a sort -out with the nest boxes, so it was out with the ladder and the tool box.

All the boxes were given  a clean out, and running repairs were done on the holes the squirrels had chewed, then they were replaced in slightly different places.

No sooner were they up, than several newly- paired up blue tits and robins were flying in and out, giving  a thorough inspection for over an hour , fantastic!

  • Hi Jane, i cleaned my nestbox out last weekend - its had bluetits using it the 3 years its been up, the last two years i have cleaned out a lovely compact little nest, however this year when i opened it up there was not a scrap of nest material in there, not one twig/blade of grass but there were two unhatched eggs! I understand that sometime not all eggs will hatch etc but why would there be NO nest material in there at all!? Anyone got any ideas!?
