The other day I made a nestbox from scrap playwood I had lying around. I've used small CCTV cameras in my garden but didn't have one small enough to fit inside a nest box so I had a look for one online.
Mini camera with power supply £12. Add 15 metres of cable £5
I was amazed to see what some retailers are asking for a box with camera. Anyone selling them at £40 is making a very healthy profit which is fair enough ; but to see some asking 2 and unbelievably 3 times that is scandalous. If you're considering getting one , shop around
P.S. If you want the wireless kind , a little more expensive , remember you still need a power point within a few feet of the camera position.

I paid under £40 for one of mine from Aldi a couple of years ago, and the second one was a box I already had that Mr. Sparrow rigged up with a mini camera like you did. Both work well enough for me and are still going strong despite being switched on continuously since they went up. Touching wood here - hope I haven't spoken too soon!!
