Providing birds and other wildlife with suitable places to nest, shelter and hibernate is a great way of helping out struggling species in the built environment. Houses, outbuildings and the wider garden area provides lots of opportunities to make space for nature. Even tiny gardens or balconies can offer great sites for bird boxes or insect homes. If you have not already joined in with Homes for Wildlife, have a look at the advice, you should be able to find some simple wildlife friendly tasks to do!
If you have been making log piles, putting up birdboxes, hogitats and solitary bee homes in your garden or for your school or nature reserve, we want to hear about it, and if you have any pictures of you in action or the end result being occupied by wildlife, please share them here and help inspire others to follow suit!
We look forward to seeing your handy work!

We have eight nest boxes around the garden, usually occupied every year. Plus Sparrows nesting in the ivy. Today a friend from Germany gave us this nest box! It's the most whimsical thing I have ever seen. She assures me that they are popular in Germany. Do you think it will ever be occupied?
