Hello my name is Epi
i have recently put up and cemented a small bird dovecote in the garden and also intruduced
RSPB buggy nibbles
RSPB buggy suet
Bugs & Bits
the bugs and bits are like crack to the birds and the buggy ones are eaten fast
i am trying to get finches to nest in the dovecote but there is also a sparrow young group that could also nest there
the garden is long with some overgrown section and two bird stations with squirell baffles on them
i have put out peanuts and niger seeds which they like as well as sunflower hearts
the box is far away from the food but the sparrow have nested in bush directly next to the food source so i am not sure how to encorage them to nest down the garden

Hi Epi
You ought to have put this thread in the Feeding Garden Visitors forum under the Wildlife Tab, then more people would have seen it.
Ideally you should position your nestbox away from the feeding area but with a clear flight path to it.
The RSPB web-site has several advice pages on nestboxes Here and also advice pages on feeding birds Here
Best wishes Chris

thats lovely but as others have said all we can do is provide houses and food then the rest is down to them, but birds can be quite suspicious and not use houses in the first year they are there, look forward to hearing more news
