Last year's blue tits came back to my camera nesting box and started building a nest. I was really delighted. Then a bumble bee took up residence and, every time a bird goes into the house now, it frightens them away with really loud buzzing. It's busy most of the time, building and rearranging the nest, and when it gets tired, it just disappears under the 'bedding'. I last saw the blue tits this morning. Is there any chance they can 'claim' their house again?
You may have bees in your box rather than blue tits this year, bees (and wasps) will use bird boxes also.

Hi Lizzie
If you wanted to try to have the best of both worlds, you might possibly try buying an insect house in the hope that the bumble bee might move into that and the blue tits can reclaim their nest box.
There are several different versions on the market. Here is one.
The RSPB also have a variety of insect houses in their shop including a bumble bee skep Here
Best wishes Chris

I'd call that a result. Blue Tits are doing fine - Bees are in a bad way. If your nextbox is providing some with safety and shelter then it has to be good news.

Every day a little more irate about bird of prey persecution, and I have a cat - Got a problem with that?
