Robin making a nest in our robin box

Hi All,

We put up a Robin nestbox last year, noticed today a Robin in the garden collecting leaves, and flow to  the direction of our nestbox,I have since been watching, a pleased to say they are building a nest, I am over the moon.

I hope anyone else who has put up a nestbox, maybe seeing activity as well, fingers x

Kind regards

Karen.

PS Will keep you all updated on the activity ;.)

  • Hi wabbit and welcome!

Great news about your robin nesting in your box.

I have had mine up for several years and no luck yet, have just moved it to a different position so maybe more luck this year!!

I have bluetits at the moment checking out the boxes for them so hopefully they should be used again this year.

It's not always easy to hug a hedgehog.

But that doesn't mean you shouldn't.

  • Great news wabbit. I have had one up for 2 years with no takers so I'm extremely envious. Look forward to your updates

  • Hi Rachel,

Thanks for reply, sorry you have no luck, fingers x for this year, our nestbox is on a fence, but in with the Honey suckle bush, it gets hidden there once spring starts, so maybe that' s why they have pick it?

We also have a blue tit box, again had that several years, but no luck, they have a good look, but no takers, so maybe we will think about moving that one this year.

    Kind regards

    Karen.

  • Hi Judim,

Thanks, I am lucky to be off work this week, so will be peeled to the kitchen window, watching for activity, will gladley keep you posted.

Fingers x for you this year.

    Regards

    Karen.

    PS Great quotation!

  • I am so jealous of you guys. I have 2 robin boxes in my garden, but although I get plenty of Robins, they have never used my boxes. For that matter, I have never managed to find out where they nest. What am I doing wrong?

There are 9000 species of bird on earth. Let's keep it that way.

budgie , i think grow plenty of ivy is the answer they love it ,last year they nested, this time on the side of my garage and raised 2 broods from the same nest which was barely 3 ft from the deck ??is this usual robin behaviour ????

  • Thats a good tip chavfinch. I can only assume you don't get cats in your garden. I am sure a nest 3 foot off the ground in my garden would not survive.

    Hi BUDGIE

Once saw a programme called Robin man who had a gift with Robins in his garden.

He always put a few dried leaves in the bottom of his boxes
