At last got round to putting up my new nest boxes today (well friend did the tricky bits !). Blue tit box is high up in the palm tree. I think we may have a record for shortest time from hammering nail in to first visit. Less than 10 minutes after putting up the box a pair of blue tits were in & out of the hole & sitting on the roof surveying the view ! Is this a record I wonder ?
wow.......must be a record....we've got some boxes to put up but i doubt we'll be threatening your record.
well done..

Wow! That's quick! I have a box to put up too, hopefully I'll be able to get it put up tomorrow, I'm not sure of the best place to position it though. Our garden is completely fenced in (it backs onto neighbouring gardens) and has little in the way of bushes or trees for shelter.
I hope you get a little family of blue tits soon!

They've been back every day since too ! But it isn't good material gathering weather as it has rained a lot here this week. I put out the tumble drier fluff to encourage them but it got very soggy !
I was thinking of putting out some tumble-drier fluff as well. Where do you put yours for the birds to find it? Is a hanger the best way to do it?

I've been collecting the tumble drier fluff since Christmas & have enough to fill 2 small hanging feeders (the ones with very large gaps in the mesh that would normally have fat balls in). The trouble is that when it gets wet in the rain it sort of coagulates & becomes pretty useless. I guess I should just tumble dry my tumble drier fluff & see if it goes fluffy again !

I checked our tumble drier the other day - I'm not sure it has ever been emptied before *blushes*
At least I have a good stock of suitable nesting material! My two boxes are up now, so the waiting begins...
