My new sparrow terrace and house martin nests have now been put up and I have moved my never yet used open fronted box to a different position.
SPARROW TERRACE
HOUSE MARTIN NESTS
OPEN FRONTED BOX
BACK GARDEN BOXES
The last 3 boxes have all been used in the past, last year just the 2 on the fence (bluetits in both).
All 3 boxes have been investigated already and may be being used for roosts.
Can't wait to see what I get this year!

It's not always easy to hug a hedgehog.
But that doesn't mean you shouldn't.
Hi Rachel,
Well, if anyone deserves to have a garden full of babies this spring, it's you, after all your planning. Well done, and fingers crossed!
Cheers, Linda.

Hi Rachel, good luck with the nest boxes- I hope they get some residents! I have several different types of nest boxes in my garden and the great tits have been checking out the newest box again today. It is exciting isn't it?
I had a wide fronted box put up last year but it wasn't used.
What a lovely garden! All boxes in nice position too. Hope you get some nice birds!!

Hi all
I will keep you all informed about the nest box use,I just hope now that I get birds in residence!!
Be a bit miffed if I don't!
(already thinking that maybe next year I could get some wrens nests!!)
official award for most nest boxes at one house!? brilliant! :o) Maybe a tip for your open fronted box that hasnt been used - it looks a little exposed (magpies/crows even a cat could get at that quite easily) - i had one in a similar position that never got a look in until i moved so it was almost completely hidden in some ivy - it got used by a pair of robins last year!! You should right a blog about all your residence once they start nesting!
Hi Goose
The open fronted box does look a bit exposed at the moment but the shrub in front of it should give more protection as it grows,my neighbour on the other side of the fence also has a Clematis montana which covers most of the top of the fence quite early on.
I may put some Prikka strips on that part of the fence if I see any cats getting interested!
We have a 3 legged (front leg missing) cat that some times uses the fence at the far end of the garden and he has a terrible job negotiating it when shrubs etc overhang it!
