Hi everybody, it's great looking forward to spring. All my boxes are being investigated but we are moving this year so we have changed all the boxes so that we can take our camera ones away.
So to the point of this post.
ALDI have camera nest boxes for £39.99 this Thursday. I bought two last year and the picture quality is good and the boxes are nice and roomy. Go in spoil yourself........they are great value

Hi Dangerous,
I agree. I bought one from Aldi last February. Excellent in my opinion. My bluetit has lived inside it ever since!! It's one of the best things I have ever bought.
Here he is fast asleep and fluffed up against the cold, taken 4th January. The pics and videos are black & white at night, and colour during daylight.
Cheers, Linda.

Can I ask a quick question about these as I'm thinking of trying to get one tomorrow ? Are they reasonably idiot proof to set up & use ? I am so totally useless with technology (the new DVD player I bought in sales after Christmas is still in box) so there's no point in me getting one if you need a degree in film & electronics to work it.
it should be plug n play!
what goes around comes around!

Not easy Bella.
They are ok if you want to watch it through your TV. But if you want it connected to your computer you have to have a spare scart lead. Please don't ask, I haven't a clue, but it requires a bit of know-how to get it right. Then you have to take the wires up the outside wall and in the window to your computer. Unless you get a wireless one. Oh dear, I'm not much help, am I. LOL

...lost me completely already !!! I am a total numpty when it comes to things like this. I do want it connected to the TV though so I assume that's ok to set up ? How many holes will I have to drill ? I'm dangerous with power tools !
Hi Bella,
You are asking another numpty here!!
If you want to take snapshots and videos, I think you will need it connected to your computer. The box comes with software for video editing.
You only need one hole though, I do know that! But the box has to be mounted on a wall near enough to your computer for the wires to reach it. You can get wireless ones.
I would wait for some expert help!!
it says you get 30m of cable... so even allowing 5m inside you would still get 25m outside cable
There is plenty of cable, as you say.
I do remember we had to buy another attachment to be able to use it on my computer. I can't remember why or what it was. It might just have been my computer.

That would go all around the house twice ! I really only want to use it on the telly. My elderly, disabled Mum would love to watch the birdies more but she is virtually housebound, she really doesn't do computers (& only have a small notebook laptop anyway) so it would be used on the telly only I think.
If it is mainly for your mum, perhaps one of the ones that you put on a feeding station or table might be better. You might not get a bird in the box.
