Hello everyone
I am quite new to the area of Plymouth and would like to know if swifts are abundant in the area and also if anyone can tell me where I can purchase swift boxes for nesting later this year? I used to live in Worcester where we had many swifts and lots of natural nesting places, but in our new home I am unsure. Can anyone give me a helping hand with local knowledge please.
Hi Linda. Welcome to the forum. I'm sure someone will help you about this. My reply will keep you on the front page for a bit longer. I know the RSPB is very interested in swift conservation - perhaps you could contact a local group. Also this might help; -

Hello Linda (that's my name, too!!)
Welcome to the forum from me. I'm sorry I can't help you. I live in Lancashire and don't think I've ever been to Plymouth, let alone know anything about local knowledge.
Good luck with your quest.
Cheers, Linda.

Hi Linda Worcester
I live a bit further up the A34 from you, and I saw plenty of swifts flying over my house last summer, so you may have some later this year.
I purchased my nest box online and various sites that sell bird food and feeders, also sell nest boxes. Jacobi Jayne offer loads of different ones, for many species of birds, but they aren't cheap.
There might also be some at your local garden centre, but they are less likely to have as many different varieties.
Best wishes Chris
