Hi Everyone,
I was given an open type nest box for xmas (best suited to Robins, Wrens and Pied Wagtails I believe!). I have a resident Robin in my garden and also see Wrens and very occasionally Pied Wagtails however I am not sure where these birds favour the nests to be. Any ideas on suitable locations for any of these birds? I have a fairly large garden with several trees and plenty of shrubs etc.
Thanks in advance & Happy New Year :)
Hi BlanketMouse
The RSPB has good advice on all aspects of nestboxes here.
Best wishes Chris

Hi Blanketmouse
I hope you found the link Woodpecker gave useful.
It is a good time to put nesting boxes up as they will have a bit of time to naturalise before the spring.
Pied wagtails will take to nesting boxes preferably away from disturbance in a sheltered alcove with an open flight path to and from the nest. Robins and wrens usually nest in cover so locating the box amongst dense climbers on a fence or trellis is usually effective.
Good luck!

Thanks for the advice, I will give it a go - gonna go for the robins & wrens and see what happens. If I get any tenants I will let you know :)
