Last year I hung up a small bird house which was more decorative than practical really but a wren built a nest inside it. Now I do not really know what to do with it - should it be emptied so that other nesting birds can use it in spring or just left for the wren who built it to roost in? I have noticed a wren is roosting in the muddy coves of a hanging basket I have and wondered if there is any other kind of structure I could provide for these birds. I already have a few bigger bird boxes dotted around which are used by tits. Thanks for any replies,
Hi Emma
Welcome to the Community from me. :-)
I would empty the bird house in preparation for nest building in the Spring.
Roosting pockets are popular with wrens and many other small birds that need extra warmth when it's a cold winter
Best wishes Chris

Berries are for birds.
