For some years sparrows have been nesting under a loose tile in my roof. I don't wish to disturb their nesting spot but I would like to make sure the loose tile doesn't end in water problems in my bungalow. Is there a special conservation group who could solve the problem? I live in Swindon.
Hi Marilyn
Could you mend the roof (once the sparrows have finished nesting) and maybe put a nest box nearby and see if they use that?
Rachel
It's not always easy to hug a hedgehog.
But that doesn't mean you shouldn't.
Hi Marilyn and welcome to the forum.
Lovely to have sparrows nesting, but I understand your problem. I suggest the same as Rachel. You can buy sparrow terraces with several nesting compartments in one box, which is how they like to nest. If you put it over where their current nest is, they may use it next year, but don't disturb them now while they are still resident.
Cheers, Linda.
