Hello Stu
I have had great-tits nest in a box in my garden. When the chicks fledged I could hear them calling throughout the garden then, within an hour or so, they moved on. Probably to other gardens and other feeding areas, they do move around a lot.
Mine did periodically return, they communicate by cheeping, to keep together and ensure they still get fed by their parents. Often I could not see them but could hear them. I did see one or two of them again when I followed the noise.
I hope this helps. Hopefully a more experienced birder will be able to give you more information.
Kind regards Jane.
Hi stu
There are some fledglings in my garden that haven't disappeared yet. Here's a fat one being fed:
Best wishes Chris

Thanks for the info. I will keep an eye out for them, it would be a rewarding feeling to see them.

Thanks Woody, I will know what to look for.
Hi Stu
If you want a funny pic of what to look for, the fledgling great tit looks like a fluff ball. :-))
Hello Stu,
I can't answer your question, but I don't think they'll be far away. Welcome to the forum by the way.
Great photos Chris, and thanks for posting them. I've never seen a baby great tit. Real fluff balls!
Cheers, Linda.

Hi Sparrow
Thanks for your reply. I can't believe how much bigger it was than the poor parent trying to feed it!
Mind you, most of it was probably 'fluff'.
It's the first time I've seen fledgling great tits too.
THANKYOU FOR OUR DAILY SEED!
If its no fun Yer no doin it right!

The more I look at that photo now the more I laugh! What a clever caption - you have caught the moment perfectly.
