Bluey re-named Boomerang

Some of you may remember Bluey, my ungrateful bluetit. He roosted in my cosy nest box all winter after systematically removing all the nice warm shredded paper I provided and dumping it all over the garden. In February we installed a camera and watched him every night arriving home, having a good wash and brush up before fluffing up and settling down for the night. He then found a wife who came frequently to clean out his pad, removing poo and feathers. Then she gave it up as a bad job - too mucky methinks. They both raided my baskets, tearing up and taking away the linings, stopping only for a bite to eat before she flew off to their other nest elsewhere whilst he returned to his bachelor pad. Then, about 6 weeks ago, he left home to join his wife. I was left with a camera looking at a filthy nest box whilst he ate my food but raised his chicks somewhere else.

Well, at some point whilst we were away, he returned to take up residence in his bachelor pad again. He and presumably his wife are frequently to be seen on my feeders, but no signs of any babies. It isn't cold at night, in fact it has been quite mild, so I can only assume his job is done, his babies have gone, and he has returned to his old bachelor ways.

Cheers, Linda.
