I have fitted two nest boxes, both occupied, with brood. Other birds building their own. I intend to make a few more next year to help them out. A thought has occurred to me - if I and others make and fit more boxes do the birds evolve to lose the ability to build their own nests? Am I, in trying to help them, having an adverse effect on them?
Hi,
House martins have merely taken advantage of human habitations for the last few hundreds of years - their natural breeding habitat is probably caves and rock faces :)
