Nestbox and posting photos

Hello,

I have a blue-tit nestbox with camera. A pair have successfully raised a family in the box for a couple of years. Last year I videoed (?spelling) some of the action.

There are seven chicks at the moment. I have the camera connected to my TV. How do I obtain still photos which I can then download for myself,  friends etc.

I assume I connect the camera to my laptop/PC but I am unsure how to continue once I have done that. Any advice would be very welcome.

Thank you.

Kind regards Jane.

  • Hi Jef

Like you I bought a nest box equipped with a camera but only connected it to the TV. Nothing has nested in the box so I haven't bothered to connect it to my PC. I bought my camera/box from gardenature and they do offer a kit to connect to a PC which includes software to record video and apparently to extract still pictures. Here's the link.

Obviously, this might be specific to their camera so you would need to check.

It's a pity Sparrow is away at the moment because I know she does it but I expect there are plenty of others on this forum who have experience of this and can offer you advice.

    Regards

    TJ

  • Thank you TeeJay, that is a big help, looks like all I need is an adaptor lead and maybe some software. I will  investigate further! I  can also go on the site I bought my box and camera, Handykam.com and try to obtain a kit from them if the one shown is unsuitable.

I have spent far too long today, watching the bluetit chicks! They appear to be getting loads of food and the mother is very attentive and forever cleaning the nest.

Thank you TeeJay, you have been a great help and it is much appreciated.  I hope you eventually get a family in your nest box.

    Kind regards Jane.
