Thought I'd try a snapshot diary.
Our first nest box two years ago was on the wall and sparrows raised two broods the first year and three last year.
This year they are busy building again but have made such a mess in there I will have to get in later today to trim the straw away from the camera before the clutch is laid.
Our new Tit box in the plum tree was coming along nicely.
Last year a nest box in the Silver Birch launched 13 baby Blue Tits into the world. The box has two opaque windows which were taped up last season. To improve the picture colour I removed the tape but it remained empty so I taped it up again. The female building in the Plum tree abandoned her efforts and moved into the bigger nest box in the Birch!
She is bringing in lots of fluff and feathers and should lay that first egg soon.
Here she is having a quick wiggle.
I have also found a hedge sparrows nest in a conifer under the window, four little gapes already.
I was going to overhaul that area of the garden but that is all on hold now.
How are every one's nest boxes doing?
Swallows are here so I'm hopeful of a return as there are two old nests under the eaves.

What wonderful photos - thanks for sharing these. I am very envious as my bluetit rooster ruined any chance of his mate accepting my camera box as a nest by being so messy, and my other boxes have no signs of activity. Next year I shall re-position them.

Hi , what fantastic pictures im so envious becasue i have two nest boxes in my garden and even though i did have a great tit investigating one of them in january regularly, i have never had an occupant. My neighbours have blue tits in theirs and they dont even know lol.

Do you have any advice on siting nest boxes. What heights are yours at??

I have three blue tit nest boxes. Two are about three metres high,both in trees and facing north east. One is unoccupied and I think it is just too small so I will put the camera in a bigger box next year.
My husband put one old tatty box on a fence post behind a honeysuckle just for a roosting spot. It is only about two feet off the grond and not that well hidden but lo and behold there is a blue tit making a nest there. I wish her luck, I really do.
I also have a sparrow nest box facing west, but it is under the eaves so shaded. This is about two metres off the ground.

The Dunnock nesting in the conifer under our window has fledged three already and they have been following mum around the garden begging.

Must feel very positive to have contributed so much towards the birds that you have in your garden area.

What a wonderful set of pictures. I would love to see some pics of your baby dunnocks. They sound so cute and I've never seen one. Thank you for sharing these, they are truely delightful.
The dunnocks are too quick for me!!
At last she is incubating and seems less inclined to cover her eggs when she goes out.
There are NINE!!!!
Her mate is in and out with the odd snack
