The Jackdaws have just started their yearly attempt to build a nest in the Dovecote, all their building material falls to the ground and they give up in the end. Other years I have just ignored it, but now I am wondering if I could put up a nesting box for them. Can anybody advise me on the size or structure of the box needed, or indeed if they would use a box.

Wow I'm so impressed!!!
One minute they are trying to nest in a dovecote and the next they have a purpose built nestbox.
They are a very lucky pair of jackdaws and I hope that they take to their nest box after you have gone to all of that trouble.
I hope you let us all know how they go on.
