I don't want to jinx it but I have moved 'greeny' my nest box to next to my living room window. And have had the pleasure of watching them investigating the box from my Sofa!
But unfortunately I have been UNLUCKY enough when having a look to scare them off THREE times in succesion. And they havent been back for 1/2 an Hour! So fingers crossed they come back.

Hi Coal,
I don't have a nest box myself. But just a thought are you going to close to the nest box to have a peek?
Littleowl
Hi little owl,
just to be clear, i am not looking in the box, just about 2ft away from my living room .
Oh I see! Well they are probably having a good look to see If that Is the right box for them to use.I know there are many people on these forums who have nestboxes so hopefully they can advise you.Good luck and hope they settle for your box
Hi Coal - if it's really close to the window it may be worth getting a net curtain/blinds or half-closing curtains you have there - i've got window feeders and while it's great to watch the birds coming to feed, any slight movement spooked them so i found myself playing "statues" whenever they'd arrive - i now have blinds which i can angle so that i can see them when i'm sitting down but they can't see me and carry on feeding for as long as they like....perfect!
