Thanks a lot for your help.
I will leave the box as it is and hopefully everything will go well. I will ask my parents to keep an eye when the chicks are born. Fingers crossed.

I would leave well alone and see what happens if you go anywhere near that nest they will leave it. I know only to well from past experience. Now I leave mother nature to take her course,.
I have been on the river bank within the last two days and I am sure I heard a corncrake as I stood in a very quiet area,which is over grown and part of the old river bed,I heard it calling, it sounded like a combe being scraped with your nail, only twice I heard it but it was there, but it is rare as far as I know we have never had one in our area before,
