I've been watching her for a while and got lucky today
Well worth the wait. Never been lucky enough to see one
Of all creatures, man is the most detestable, he is the only creature that inflicts pain for sport, knowing it to be pain. ~ Mark Twain
Hi Dangerous,
I couldn't see her at first, but once I enlarged the picture there she was. How beautiful. I've never seen one.
Cheers, Linda.

I have them in my local park . Wonder if I can get a photo as good as yours :D
The river Don runs through one end of it. They are the most amasing wee birds.
I'll try and get a photo of them next time Im down . Also have Gooseander, Kingfisher, Golden eye, Teal, mallard.
Buzzard was seen grubbing for worms last week.
Mink and Otters have been seen there too. along with grey seals slightly further down .
The river runs through the park and down through the small mud flats to the sea. Plenty waders gulls and divers off the mouth of the river.
and all the tits Treecreepers and other wee birds that live in the wood too.
Not bad for a 10 minute walk from my flat .

If its no fun Yer no doin it right!
Dippers are pretty common here on the Kent but I've never seen a nest built from scratch. Every time I popped my head over the wall she saw me and flew off. It was raining today and I guess she didn't see me for once. The nest itself will be in a hole in the wall with the moss ball you see merely an extension. The babies will have to fly first go, no second chance in that river. There are gooseander and a pair of kingfishers on that stretch and I once glimpsed an otter. Mallards used to nest but the mink get the eggs. The autumn highlight is the salmon and trout jumping the weir.
Wow Dangerous!!! That's SUPERB! Dippers are among my fave birds (got quite a few really :-}) Thanks for sharing! Hopefully you'll get to see the young fledge and being taught how to seek out food! (Watched a family in France some years ago (pre-digital) with the parents showing the young how to go under! It took them some time to get the hang of it!!)

WOW! Brilliant photo Dangerous. It just goes to show that patience pays off. Well done.
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
