Hi,
we are in the process of getting some quotes together for our roof to be replaced and I was wondering what options I have for making it suitable for nesting birds? We have a number of house sparrows and swifts that nest nearby and I would like to ensure I give them the option to nest with us.
It is quite possible that we already have sparrows nesting so any work is going to be delayed until I know that any potential fledglings have dispersed.
Hi Andrew,
It's great to see that you want to help Swifts and Sparrows.
I only have experience with Swifts nesting in external and internal boxes but I've attached some links which may be of use:

www.swift-conservation.org/pantile_roofs.htm

(see 'downloads' section on the right of the page in the last link)
To vastly increase your chances of Swifts occupying your new nest spaces don't forget to play the calls: www.swift-conservation.org/How_to_use_the_Swift_Calls_CDv4.pdf
Hope this helps
Mike
