Many of you will remember my camera nest box and Bluey, the bluetit rooster. He has been roosting every night without fail. He found a Mrs. Bluetit, and she paid many visits during the day time to clean out the box and remove all her husband's poo. That is dedication, methinks. She clearly hasn't heard of Girl Power. Then, about 2 weeks ago, she gave it up as a bad job, sensible girl. Bluey continues to roost every night, and the box is now really filthy. I still had some hope of Mrs. Bluetit returning to sort things out, but Alas and Alack, all hope has gone. Just look what she was doing this morning - plucking MY moss from MY basket and taking it away to another garden. She has a beak full of the stuff. The ungrateful little bird, after all I have done for her husband, providing him with bed and board all winter.

LOL love your story of your Bluey's.
You can only try your best to keep your birds happy, and they themselves happy as a couple the same time. Must be a marital split going on somewhere.
Well they certainly know what side their bread is buttered on between your garden... and....
now where is that 'other' nest hiding?

What a lovely picture, and a bitter sweet story of you providing free bed and board and then them possibly nest building elsewhere.
There is probably still time for someone to move into your nest box. They all just don't realise how good it is yet :-)

The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!

Bluey and his wife must have found a nestng place in a neighbouring garden, and once he leaves his night time roost, all I will be left with is a camera in a box full of poo. I could post a photo of it but you may not have had your tea.
Bluey has just this second arrived home for the night. I shall have stern words with him.
Hi to all. This is my first post, so please excuse any erros.
I have just recently upgraded my nest box camera, which has confirmed I have a rooster. I assume it is a cock bird, because like the original post, he is making a hell of a mess in there. I haven't seen any prospective mates, or non with brush and pan!
I haven't been able to record much yet, as his activities seem to be restricted to entering the box at the end of the day, which sets of am alarm so I can view, but after entering, he climbs up into what I call the loft, which is where the camera is attached and the cables are stored. Guess it must be warm up there for him.
Doesn't seem to have a mate as yet, bu8t as it's been a cold, cold winter, I expect they are all holding on for a while longer. Another box I have in my tiny garden, has had breeding birds in there for the last two years, so I don't know about this year. I was going to put a new box and camera in there too, but wondering if it is too late.
