Sparrows

I am very fortunate in that I have a lot of house sparrows visiting my garden, they seem to love the fat balls.

Just over a week ago there were newly fledged ones, fluffy, trying out their wings, being called to and fed by the parents, they still have the remains of the yellow 'gape flange' (is that the correct term for it?).

The same thing happened last summer such as it was, there seemed to be newly fledged sparrows every month.

How late into the year do they have young? How many clutches do they have per year?

I think that they may be nesting in my Red Robin shrub as I went out to prune it but stopped when I thought that I could hear young birds 'twittering' as they would when the adult returns to the nest with food.
