Housemartin nest

Hi all, last year some Housemartins set up home in the eaves of my house but shortly afterwards their nest fell to the ground killing all 3 chicks that were inside. This year the birds were back and built a better nest, or so I though but it fell down yesterday although there were no birds inside, just feathers lining the nest. I'd like to think the young flew away but I really don't know if they were old enough to do this. The eaves of my house are really quite high so there is no way I could get anywhere near to where they built their nest but I'd like to build a more stable home for them ready for next year. I'd like some advice on how to make a new home for them, size, materials, etc. Thanks in advance for your assistance.
