Hi there
While surfing the net I came across this website full of quaint bird houses.
http://www.wildbirdscomfort.com/mounted_bird_houses.html
How far do we go to give our birds their home comforts?
Regards
Kathy and Dave
Hi Blackbird
OMG they would frighten the birds off, do you think a bird would go in them.
Does any one have some think like this? and do you get birds in them?
Hey farmer, farmer, put away the D.D.T now. Give me spots on my apples, but leave me the birds and the bees, please!
Hi Blackbird, there gorgeous aren't they, you could create a little fairy garden with them. I wonder how succesfull they are at tempting the birds. My nan did have a little wooden cottage mounted to her oak tree for the birds, but never had anything nest in it, but I think it's because she had it situated to close to her feeders.
There is a sufficiency in the world for man's need but not for man's greed.
I have two, which were bought as presents for me. One is of a cottage, with a sign, which says, ' gone golfing ' and the other is a thatched cottage, with all kinds of flowers in the garden. They are extremely heavy and am sorry to say they are still in their boxes. I just couldn't see the birds using them, and in all honesty, we just didn't want them in our garden !
Hi Kathy
Wow they look ambitious! Typically American
Best wishes Chris

They're absolutely dreadful - an insult to any bird (or garden)!
Hi everyone
I am glad that we do not have much of this type of 'tat' in the UK
It is really mad what people do to get a bit of business,
Some homes/feeders are sweet, and others look more like hillybilly bird homes LOL.
Wonder if a bird would use them ... that is the question?
So I am all on my own on this one then, I actually quite like them, not so sure you would get anything nesting in them as you all say bit too busy for the birds, but then you never know they have been know to nest in the strangest of places. but as from an ornamentle view I like them, all to there own taste though.
Ellibee better warn your neighbours not to put any out then, you obviously feel quite passionate about it. LOL
Thats a joke by the way. ( wouldn't want to insult anyone ).

Apologies, B-b-b! My remark was totally OTT! Each to his (her) own - and I'm just the plain and simple type!
Hi Elibee, Thats O.K.
Since having the children, my tastes have been anything but plain and simple, you should see how colourful my house is now. See I'd put something like these houses in the garden and tell them thats where the fairys live. ( I know I'm completely mad ) anything to make there childhood magical. We have a lot of eccentrics on my side of the family.
I'm afraid I don't like them either. The Americans do go over board with things. My family already think I'm eccentric with my feeders and nest box, and rolled over with laughter at the videos from my nest box. They would send for the men in white coats if I put one of those up.
Cheers, Linda.
