Hello everyone,
It's nesting time! We do our own hairdressing and all year we have been saving our clippings for this time of year.
We have had a lot of fun watching our birds sporting big moustaches as they gather hair for lining their nests. So far interested parties have included, great tits, blutits, dunnocks, sparrows, greenfinchs and Jackdaws. So get clipping in time for next nesting season.

Morning Liz, I have also saved some hair clippings to leave out for nesting material as my friend is a hairdresser. I also put out sphagnum moss in a fatcake holder and we have two Dicksonia Tree Ferns which the birds like and take centre fibres out of it for their nests. It's good to see some activity but not so much on the feeders as the birds get busy preparing their nests.

Hi Liz, not sure how much of the moss the birds are taking as we have two fat cake feeders full of it but the season seems to be somewhat slow in build up to nesting and hoping another two weeks sees the birds getting a move on with nesting.

I have a feeder full of feathers from my wife's pillow. I keep taking a handful and the sparrows love them My wifes not noticed yet that her pillow is not as plump as it used to be.

LOL @ John !!! not parting with my feather pillow, not even for the Long Tailed Tits !!! moss and hair will have to do until I can grab some sheep wool from the fencing on our next walk !
