Hi Everyone,
I have a nestbox with a camera inside and was really excited last week when I saw that a nest had started to be built. However the female has been acting very strangely these last couple of days. She keeps going into the box and removing the nesting, then bringing it back in only to remove it again! Today it looks like it has even less nesting material than it did yesterday!
Does anybody have any idea what is going on? Has anybody else experienced this? I really hope that the nest box is used this year as I have had the camera last year and the nest got abandoned :-(
Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Lisa, this has been happening with my blue tit nestbox for the past four days! every day the female half builds the nest then first thing in the morning it's all removed and then rebuilt again the following day. This routine is the same every day.She is actually roosting in the box tonight for the first time. I have a feeling that it may be another female trying to claim the box and this is maybe why it's removed. It's soo frustrating watching this . Fingers crossed for us both that nesting finally happens soonish :-)
Thanks Jane that would make sense! The behaviour is really erractic, last week the nest was starting to take shape this week it doesn't even look like a nest! Fingers crossed for both of us, let me know how you get on :-)
