Dipper
While other birds fly over forests and fields
the chocolate brown dipper blinks as he
bobs midst the fast flowing streams
with a neat white bib.
Perched on a rock
In rushing white water
he bobs and he dips
Before plunging below.
A freshwater diver,
he swims and he prods to forage his food
under swirling clear water.
Till he springs back to land
where he blinks and
as he shakes out his plumage
in halos of glistening spray.
