Stone Curlew
Stone curlew, thick-knee, Norfolk Plover,
Bird of the Breckland with staring yellow eye:
Flocking you came, weird voices crying
Out of a grey and sunlit sky
Behind you a field of golden ragwort -
Beneath dark clouds a brilliant sight.
First I heard, then saw you, downward sweeping
To settle and feed in the eveing light
Warden Intern at Otmoor.
Hi Ian
Enjoyed that a lot.
Stone Curlews are just the oddest looking birds too - those big eyes.
Regards
Kathy and Dave
Thanks Ian - that paints a lovely picture of the scene and the bird.
Thanks for posting Jean's poem.
It's always a joy read words applied like a true artist with there brushes.
Robert
