Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
They look very mischievous!
You can't stay friends for 35 years and find heaps of good birds and not be mischievous
Interestingly- 4 birders- all using different makes of Bins- It's always a personal choice !
I think we all have different makes of scope too- certainly all different models.
No good at id (as you probably already know) but I`d have gone for Paper Lace...Or ALL of the above :-)
Nearly choked on me cocoa.Nice one S.
They came back!!!! Athos and Porthos returned- Aramis was busy-
This weekend they rolled into town - bowled up, flogged the habo , had some birds and gripped off the locals.
Yellow browed warblers early saturday followed by Peregrines hunting Terns over Titchwell beach, a Greenshank hunting in a channel by the causeway, Arctic skuas whizzing past, a Wheatear on the beach and loads of passage waders inc. Curlew Sands and Little Stint
Total for the day- 105 spp.
Day 2- Tawny Owls and Green Woodpecker in my garden at dawn then a drive to Lynford Arboretum with a fast moving female Merlin en route.
The arboretum had flocks of Common Xbills flying in and out and a bright male Two barred Xbill joined them. We heard a Firecrest singing right by the main track and watched him and his Missus in the holly bushes.
Drove north to Stiffkey fen for Spoonbills and not much else in the wind and ended up back at Titchwell where we finally found Sparrowhawk and L.R.P.
After the 2 musketeers had left a Great Spotted Woodpecker calling while I was in the bath at dusk finished the weekend list at 123.
:)
I agree about jeans but he is a PhD not a total fieldman- note bins not welded to chest - One of us wore jeans this weekend but it has been dry for ages here.
