Goldfinch Nest in Hanging Basket

Hi There . A friend of mine has a dilemma. She's just discovered that Goldfinches have nested in a hanging basket. They've only just laid eggs so what would be the best policy here?

The plants will need watering as the foliage is provided some cover and protection so she cannot let the plants wilt and die. Could she water them as infrequently as possible or will this disturb the birds?

    Sorry no one has answered you yet, things are busy on here at the moment with the Opsrey nests and posts gets missed. It is illegal to interfere with any nest, site, box, from when the first material is taken in. Afraid if the nest is where the plants are, then the plants will have to die. There is no way you can water the plants and avoid the eggs/parent. Care will have to be taken also when going out and being near to the basket, try to avoid that area until the chicks have fledged, rather that have a failed nest by the parents being spooked and abandoning the eggs/chicks.
