I've just found loads of these in my pond (see the small black objects). They look like frog or toad eggs but they are individually placed and it's too late in the year for them. A few look like they are further developed. Any ideas on what they could be? I thought maybe newt eggs but Im not sure if newt eggs are black.

I wouldn't claim to be an expert, but newts tend to lay their eggs on broad underwater leaves which they then fold over to protect the egg. They wouldn't normally lay on vegetation like that in the photo as it's not suitable to fold over. I guess you'll have to wait and see what hatches (and whether it proves me wrong!) unless someone else has a better guess.

Been searching loads of sites & none the wiser, can only reiterate what Nigel suggests ... wait & see ... isolate them in a bucket of pondwater so you don't miss the event!
Agree not Newts!
