Yes awful crime but as has been said there will always be bad apples in all walks of life and we need to recognise that by far the largest % of police try very hard to do a good job and guess they think the same of these bad apples as we do.

The swine got a suspended sentence, £120 costs and 150 hours of community service.  The law in this country takes the p*** when it comes to wildlife crime - an ex-copper should have been made an example of.

What kind of sentence is that?  I reckon he should be put in stocks on the cliffs at Holyhead where he stole the eggs of the choughs and all bird lovers should gather to vent our fury.

As a former policeman you might find it surprising that I think that prison should be reserved for those who are dangerous to society.  That said it should mean that those who don't get sent there are given a punishment that deters further offending and shows the rest of us they have been properly punished and I must say this isn't one of those sentences.
