just got back from my hols and discovered my neighbour has added even more wire along the top of the fence between our properties, before it was just down the rear fence!! Its attached using very long screws screwed into the top of the fence, and then wire is strung between them all along the top, its her way of deterring the birds from sitting on it, and also to stop them pooping on her fence (cos then her gardener has to scrape it off!)
We live on the edge of open ground and have a wide variety of bird and wildlife around us, with many birds visiting the feeders in our garden, and blue tits nesting annually too.
It looks dangerous for both birds and other animals to my mind, as they could easily get trapped and caught in it, but I am not sure of the legality of it, can anyone please advise me?

Does the fence belong to your neighbour, or to you? If it belongs to you, then the neighbour shouldn't be doing this.
I had to put up a very short length of chicken wire on the top of a fence to stop a cat coming over just where I had some feeders hanging. (The cat made sudden appearances and reached down with its claws). The chicken wire did stop the cat, but has never affected the small birds. They perch on it without a problem.

Hope so! will just have to put more feeders around for them to fly to! Unfortunately got one of those neighbours who just loves to make life unpleasant for others ha ha!!!! even our feathered friends, makes you wonder why they choose to live in the countryside!!

Then if she didn't have your permission, she has "violated" your property, and I would imagine you have the right to remove it. I'm no expert, but have had various "boundary" fence problems in the past, and if it is yours, then it is yours do do with as you wish within the planning law. Anything your neighbour does could amount to criminal damage.
