It’s the wee small hours and all is quiet, the wind is at ... 1mph! Soon be time to don footwear and trot out in me jammies armed with birdy breakfast, perhaps catch the sunrise, or hear the wild ocean gently, for a change, lapping on the sand. Ahh, s’lovely.
In the meantime, had a hissy fit last night reading a BBC article
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-18190364
about our precious Golden Eagles vs the proliferation of wind farming on a nearby island. Apropos of which I wrote to our local council, in nouncertain terms. I really must calm down, not easy though, knowing that cosy little meetings take place to make horrendous decisions that fill their coffers and to ... blazes with wildlife considerations. A couple of local newspapers and the RSPB were also sent copies though the SSPCA should also be sent a copy as the atrocity is occurring in Scotland.
Thanks to everyone who welcomed me. Made me smile and is much appreciated.
As I seem to be replying to myself (haven’t sussed this gizmo out yet),thanks to Daz for explaining the name connected to The Beach Boys. Can stopwondering now :) Oh yes, it is awesome to get close to wildlife. I suppose I’m extremely lucky in that a local hotel has pet pheasants that wander around quite freely and I managed to grab a quick photo before they escaped into the verge grasses. Starlings have an incredible colour too, theiriridescence is simply lovely.
TopDog – thank you for the welcome. Where is the petition of which you speak as I’d like to sign it too.
TeeJay – thank you for your kind welcome and explaining the ‘sloop’ mystery. Oh – just looked at my weather gizmo and the wind has increased – now 2mph. To me, and us all who live here, that is nothing short of a lottery win. My one and only tree might grow a bit this year. It usually gets hammered by a late Spring gale, ending up with leaves that resemble crisps. I absolutely love the quote you added and am going to print it out, fancy it up and put it on my wall. It’s beautiful! Thanks for sharing it, especially as my most favourite bird sound is that of a blackbird’s morning song.
Thanks Kev – I’ll sign the petition too as soon as I know where it is.
Hi and thank you Rach. I hope your Tory MP gets over his thrill at your email and does something really useful for the Buzzards. Good luck onthat and keep us posted.
There, am all caught up and see the dawn beginning to appear so it’s time to don the boots and go-a-sprinkling seed for the birdies. Am sure some fluffy babies have hatched already as I hear the occasional teeny weeny squeaks. Will soon be that time when their parents teach them how to feed while I stand watching and get nothing done, but do end up with face ache from smiling haha Ahhh I hear the birds calling now – that’ll be the oyster catchers, then the gulls. Must remember to put rubber gloves on as I hate handling the dried mealy wormy things, but the birds love them.
Have a lovely day all and thanks again!
