  • Thanks for posting this.

This article is extremely worrying.  As if these amazing birds don't have enough to contend with, we should at least be able to expect Police Wildlife Liaison Officers to be on the right side.  I'm confident that the vast majority are decent, hard-working officers who care deeply for wildlife; that's why they're in these roles, after all.  Sadly wherever humans are involved there's the chance of the odd bad apple.

However, I don't think the advice to not contact the police about wildlife crime is sensible.  If you think a wildlife crime has been committed, like any crime, you should call the police.  If you are unsure about it, call the RSPB first - they'll advise.

There's a petition about illegal killing of birds of prey on the RSPB website - if you want stronger laws and heavier penalties for people who kill raptors, sign it now.

  • A very worry article.  It sickens me that someone should be given a position of trust in the protection of nature and the enforcement of wildlife laws, then abuse that trust.

Warning!  This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar.  Approach with extreme edginess.

  • Check out the lying hypocrite involved on BBC 6 O'clock News 23/12/09, holding forth on wildlife crime.
