According to a source today a call was made on the grounds that their numbers at inland gravel pits have increased and they yell abuse at birdwatchers and leave nylon line abandoned on banks that then entraps birds.

Ooh careful! Not all anglers are the same and some fishing clubs do a lot for wildlife.
I would never fish myself but I also would not condem such a varied group of people.

I was crouched behind the sofa for a while for I USED to fish not competative just as a hobby thats where I learnt about the wildlife in the countryside as you spend most of the time sitting and doing not much else. Shared my bait with all sorts of feathered creatures and sat not 10 feet away from a Kingfisher who was a much better fisherman than me :-)
Gave up along time ago but still have the memories of quiet times on the river/pool banks.

We speak from the advantage of all bird watchers being Saints either in this life the previous one or the next one.Some even better than that.
