I live near Ruabon Mountain & the World's End valley in North East Wales. I have seen Peregrine Falcon's and know of a rock climbing ban in the Eglwyseg valley during the nesting season. I was out walking on the moors at the back of Creig Arthuf yesterday. I came across a substantially built bird trap in a very remote location. The wire construction consisted of 3 compartments, the larger of which contained the remains of birds which had been used as live bait! The 2 other compartment were the same size but were fitted with spring loaded closures on the top surface which were triggered by some kind of stay. One of these compartments contained the remains of what looked like a raptor. There was a water container in the bait compartment of the trap and a top up bottle closeby. The trap had not been attended for some considerable time as the raptor and bait birds were well decomposed. I disabled the spring loaded doors on the trap. Should I report this find? Is so to who, is there a RSPB warden that covers this location? Any advise as to what if anything to do next would be appreciated.
Well done Spuggy and hope it is all sorted quickly :0)
