Hi there
I find this story bizzare the way the birds have simply fallen from the sky.
Here is the link...Story here Very strange and sad.

Hi Kat
Interesting to know that. Never thought of Starlings as pests at all.
Maybe it is the fact they like to live in flocks that people find objectable - so they can be noisey and unsociable
So the USA regard them in a different context to the UK
They aren't actually native to the US, they were introduced by Europeans like house sparrows were so in the US there are like many other invasive species - such as grey squirrels over here. Perhaps we could do a swap, send them back some squirrels in return for starlings and spuggies lol

hi Kat
Quite, there are 'invasive' species we have from the USA so we have to share and share alike on this world
They can have their Grey Squirrels back anyday for more birds like Spuggies (to help them congregate together in their droves once more in the UK) and Starlings

Now THAT would be a fab idea! My feeders emptied again by squirrels
'Dip a dee dah, dip a dee ay, we're not seeing any birds to-day...'
More news about the on-going story
The fireworks theory appears to be the solution to the incident http://www.publicbroadcasting.net/wx...d.on.fireworks
Fireworks are responsible for all such incidents, or are they?
Another 2 more up to date links on the same stories. The first link shows all the wildlife 'group' events of many types of animals and birds. Just shows it happens the world over and maybe most of the times we do not even notice it http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti....html?ITO=1490 http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/9974...-+Companies%29 Regards Kathy and Dave
