Hello, I'm new here so apologies if this has been asked before or if I'm in the wrong place! I chopped back my holly bush today and stopped when our garden blackbird started giving out distress calls. Turns out there was a nest with new chicks in there so I quickly left and haven't gone back into the garden since. I thought it was a blackbird nest on account of the distress calls but peeking through the kitchen window it turns out they're sparrows as the parents are now going in and out feeding the chicks. Apart from feeling bad about the pruning it made me wonder if blackbirds watch out for sparrows? Anyone know?
