Hey guys, looking for some sound advice on this one.
The field next to my house has outlined planning going before the local authorities on the 14th June, all my neighbours have objected for various reasons but 1 which I think has been seriously over looked is.... late at night I sit here in bed with my sky lights open and I hear the owls hooting in the field... how can I prove there is owls nesting here and how can I get them recorded by a governing body so that if there is any disturbance to them there will be a case to answer to???
If its important...I have no idea which species of owl this is
Hundreds of planning applications are submitted to the RSPB every week, and the RSPB only has limited resources with which to monitor and respond to them. Generally, if the proposal adversely affects a County Wildlife Site or land of equivalent wildlife value, the RSPB may become involved in opposing or seeking to amend the planning application.
you can make a difference if you take action yourself. If you do have concerns about a wildlife site in your area - maybe because of a proposed development that might affect it - then the RSPB’s Take action for wildlife pack will help guide you as to what you can do about it.
contain topics ranging from an introduction to the planning system and planning applications, to practical advice on how to write objections and involve your local politicians and media, and includes lots of contact names and numbers to assist you.
An independent habitat survey would need to be carried out on the land to assess the usage of it by birds and other wildlife. If wildlife of conservation concern is found to be using the area then you may have a case for stopping or altering the application. It may be that the local Wildlife Trust are already aware of the area and the plans so it is worth getting in touch with them.
If you think the site is valuable for wildlife, tell the planners that an independent ecological survey is needed to assess the wildlife using the site. There's more detailed information and contacts in the 'Take action' pages.
I hope that helps....
