Hi Sparrow, I saw that and was amazed by the sight. I have seen but one rook here recently and that was enough as it has quite a savage-looking beak!
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!

Sparrow, you might be interested in "Crow Country" by Mark Crocker.
He describes his searches for rooks in Norfolk and Suffolk. A wonderful read.
I have a small rookery in my lane and I love listening to them. They are one of the earliest birds to nest here.
Hi, what an amazing sight, I live in Suffolk we do get alot of Rooks here, they do sound impressive when you get alot together, I have never seen numbers as big as this before.
There is a sufficiency in the world for man's need but not for man's greed.
What an amazing sight!
Wow! That's fantastic! Thanks Sparrow!

I saw that in this morning's paper. It is so worth seeing. We do get rooks here but not sure of my reaction if I saw that many around the house.
That's one big flock of rooks! It's like a scene from The Birds!

Super photo! We have a couple of local rookeries, but nothing like that!
Squirrel, despite their fearsome-looking beaks, rooks are the gentlest of the corvids. I know a few people with hand-reared disabled rooks and the birds are without exception very sweet.
Last year we found a youngster in his downed nest under the local rookery and hand-reared him. He went to Lincolnshire to be with some other youngsters, and was released. As far as I know Dylan is now a happy adult rook :)
A closed mouth gathers no foot.
Oh Maisie, he's lovely, and well done for rearing him. I don't know much about rooks, but I have always admired my jackdaws for being so gentle, and patient and well mannered on the bird tables.
Oh Maisie, he is just ADORABLE!!! I absolutely *love* that blue eye!!!
