I was sitting here on this dull, cold afternoon with rain and sleet falling feeling rather depressed. Time for a cup of tea I thought. Then, from the kitchen window I saw two nice unexpected visitors within 15 minutes.
First a pair of lesser redpolls on the nyger seed feeder. The goldfinches weren' best pleased to have intruders eating their personal supplies
.
Then, a visit from a green woodpecker whom I've not seen since before Christmas giving my now unfrozen lawn a good working over.
My mood lightened and I enjoyed my cup of tea even more.
So what has cheered you up today. Go on, hit us with your rhythym sticks.

Wows brilliant garden guests!
What has cheered me up today? Well I was at one of my Bird Friendly Schools today and the enthusiasm of the kids there is certainly something to be cheerful about! Who says kids these days have no interest in wildlife? They certainly do when given the chance! Plus I got a lovely little mini-feeder that they made too :-)

This TJ this, nice one!
For viewing or photography right place right time is everything. I'd rather be in the right place with poor kit than have the best kit and be in the wrong place.
hi TJ
Oh you lucky person having the Redpolls on your feeders - what foodstuff are in those feeders?
Your pictures have given me hope, inspiration, and lots great things to think about.
The Green Woodpecker yet another beautiful bird to hehold in your garden {thumbs up}

Ditto Lindybird. I have never seen them anywhere.
What fabulous photos TJ. Woody is so colourful, and to see the red polls and the goldie sharing a feeder is lovely. I'm afraid I would have spilled my tea everywhere in excitement.
What else cheered me up today? My peanut feeder has been used for the first time in weeks, if not months. By a sparrow of all things. I had given up on it almost.
Cheers, Linda.

Seeing Long-tailed Tits on my garden feeder for the first time - the berry suet treats obviously work on them!
Great pics TJ!!

Yes, it was a dull day with rain and sleet, but I felt quite happy. Then you came along and posted your photographs of your redpolls and I now feel jealous and miserable !!!
Only joking TJ. Lovely to see your photographs.

Hi Sparrow
I've had the same problem with peanuts. I had to empty them away yesterday because they had all gone mouldy. I have refilled the wire tube because I'm hoping attract the greater spotted woodpecker back. Haven't seen him since before Xmas. Glad something is using yours.
