Hi there
Dave and I have just come back from a walk in our favourite patch around at Barkers Lane at the back of the local Tesco's
As we where walking along the pavement, we came across a few Redwing in a bush on the side of Barkers Lane (Roadway} As we stood with the camera in hand, most of the other Redwing moved across in a group to the other side of the road.
One bird stayed behind so we tried to get a picture of the bird but did not quite succeed the way we would have like to have done. I could see the yellowish stripe through his eye so it is a Redwing.
So these are the pictures that we managed to get of the bird in question.
The last picture was the best one we got. At least you can see the red blush on the Redwings chest area.
I think he was playing hard to get LOL {sigh}
Regards
Kathy and Dave
I have had the same trouble with these, they don't play along at all.
John :-)
For viewing or photography right place right time is everything. I'd rather be in the right place with poor kit than have the best kit and be in the wrong place.
Hi John
I am glad to hear that I am not the only one with the 'secretive' Redwing thing. They are very restless, and will not stay still for any amount of time at all.
I know you only need to look at a Fieldfare and they are off like a shot too LOL
We are considering going for a walk to one of our local patches tomorrow - Priory Park so we will see what becomes of this trip and hope that we get some good photographs of the bird life. Hope that the weather remains dry for us.
I bet you were quite excited when you came across those Redwings!
I know what you mean about them being hard to photograph, we had a pair in the garden last week and I didn't stand a chance!
From late september onwards im ever listening out for the Tseep of them passing over head. Never have i managed to get a decent picture of Redwing even though theres always plenty of them about! As you say blackbird, the blush shows up nicely in your last photo! Have fun if you do go to Priory tomorrow and Happy New Year!
Lloyd
Hi Lloyd
Thank you for your kind comments about my pictures - I wish I got the whole bird a lot! - never mind, simply the one that got away.
I will listen out for Tseep call when we go out tomorrow, and keep my eyes peeled too.
A report will be added on the RSPB tomorrow, plus the associated pictures.
Only hope the weather is dry. Keeping my fingers crossed {smile}
It is a nice way to start to the new year.
HAPPY NEW YEAR to you too, and all the staff at the Lodge

Hi Paul
Yes, I was very excited to come across the Redwings.
It is the closest we have been to them yet.
Been close to Fieldfares a few times now, but not Redwings.
I hope that you manage to get a picture or two yet!
Great to share here.
