Popped there Sunday afternoon. The weather wasn't the best (heavy showers, overcast with the odd sunny spell). There were many lapwings, gulls (common, black-headed and lesser black backs I think!), herons, teal, mallard, snipe, curlew, tits (coal, blue, great & long tailed) as well as goldfinches, a wren and a fleeting glimpse of a kingfisher!
Went to another hide on the site and saw a couple of goldcrests in the conifers/pines near there but no chance of a photo! Maybe next time. From the hide I saw the great spotted woodpeckers (not close enough for decent pics!)
female on the peanuts
Male waiting up in the tree
Back at the first hide, the grey wagtail was about (too far again for a good pic)
and across the pool I thought this cormorant had bitten off more than he could chew, but apparently not!! (again too far away for clear pictures)
Hoping that my next visit will be a little brighter!! Lol!

Lovely photos that I can see, MarJus, but your last two are the dreaded little boxes at the moment!
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
Thanks Squirrel, little boxes for me too so have re-uploaded....
Nice one MarJus, That fish looks like a hand full. Always a fan of the woodies off feeders, very cool!
John :-)
For viewing or photography right place right time is everything. I'd rather be in the right place with poor kit than have the best kit and be in the wrong place.
Lovely photographs MarJus. Pity about the weather but sounds as if it was a good bird watching day. Cormarants always fascinate me when they can swallow whole the biggest of fish.
Got the last two now MarJus. Gracious me, that bird's got a big appetite!
I went to Wood Lane a few days ago, the pools were frozen over and there were hardly any birds around except at the feeders. I took a couple of photos but can't see how to post them in a thread.
Hi MarJus
Sorry I overlooked this post and what a super area to have close by.
Love your report and your pictures. The Great Spotted Woodpecker is a beauty {smile}
Love the Cormorant picture - that is a huge fish he is trying to swallow - greedy thing. It just shows that food is the No 1 one on birds menu - be it large or small prey.
The Grey Wagtail is beautiful and i love any pictures of this bird. The yellow colouration is something else and makes the bird distinctive over other species.
Thank you for sharing
Regards
Kathy and Dave
