At the beginning of May we set of from home near the Suffolk Coast to drive up to Oban for the ferry to Mull on the West Coast of Scotland for a weeks wildlife watching. A distance of 475miles so we broke the journey up stopping at various National Trust & RSPB sites which had been on our places to visit list for some time.
We arrived in Tobermory late Sat afternoon and settled into our house and gawped at the view on a somewhat grey & misty day.
Our first trip was out to Staffa and Lunga for the Puffins.
The entrance of Fingal's Cave. Needless to say the boat was playing Mendelsohn music as we approached. An amazing geological formation and an interesting walk/climb to get the the cave entrance.
There were a few Eiders about the rocks as well.
Next it was onto Lunga and the Puffins, my favourite sea bird.
Finally for today, a Hooded Crow among some Bluebells.
The next day we had a day out with a local ranger to look for eagles......
Looks like a great place to visit. Lovely pics.
Fabulous trip & photos, look forward to more !

(Pardon the Scottish Accent)
Looks like a lovely trip you had Tony. I have yet to see Puffins, one day.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
That looked a fantastic day Tony, with super photos to share and have as memories. Thank you for sharing, and I'll be on the lookout for the ranger and eagle report.

Thank you all for your comments, Mull is a stunningly beautiful place and the wildlife is truly outstanding, I would recommend anyone to make a visit, but do book trips before you arrive. It is certainly well worth booking a local ranger to take you around for a day as they know where all the nests, roosts, feeding places are. We then spent the next few days retracing our route with the guide to repeat the sitings and get some better ones.
Fabulous photos and thank you for sharing them with us
