Limpy and I made it to Mull again this year - it was just what we needed after a bit of a challenging winter. I'm going to dive right in and show the stars of the visit first, though I'll be adding to the thread as I get through the (large) quantities of photos I took! Here we go:
Enjoy!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Right, here goes the last day on the island! Inevitably Limpy wanted to go back to where we'd seen the otters on the previous day. When we got to the spot it was pretty quiet, except for this bird:
I never tire of seeing oystercatchers. Just as well, really.
Happily the tide was in so I could see it reasonably close.
As the tide started going out Limpy got into position. I found myself thinking of one of my favourite Beatles songs for no apparent reason!
After some time (!!) had passed Limpy's patience (and mine) was rewarded.
It's great to see otters, even at a distance!
Posing for the cameras!
After it had gone we headed for the beautiful beach at Calgary. On arrival it started to rain (rats!) but eventually I got a long enough break between showers to see what was about:
Female eiders have such beautiful markings.
She decided that was as close as she was prepared to let us get!
The duckling followed her out and they looked gorgeous on the water together.
Finishing with a scenic shot of this lovely beach.
That's it for my Mull photos - I hope you've all enjoyed them!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

It is indeed 'I Am The Walrus'! He wasn't thrilled by the comparison.
When we left Mull we headed to Loch Garten before going home. Click here if you'd like to see the photos.
